MercyMedical Center recently eliminated 15 positions at the facility including 13 licensed practical nurses. The reason given for the staff reduction was that the LPNs were "unable to provide the level of nursing care needed" that a registered nurse would be able to provide the facility's patients. As well, the Womack Army Medical Center in Fayetteville, North Carolina has stated it will cut over 500 civilian jobs next year. The report also estimates that a 9% increase in employment will occur between 2010 and 2020.
